Eyebrow Care and Restoration

Eyebrows thin for the same reasons as the hair on your head, and sometimes for reasons of their own: years of plucking, damage from permanent makeup, and age-related and hormonal changes. At Medest, eyebrow restoration is handled by a dermatologist-trichologist, who first finds out why the hairs have stopped growing and then selects procedures and home care.
Common concerns
- your eyebrows have become sparse, with visible gaps;
- the hairs do not grow back after frequent plucking or shaping;
- your eyebrows thinned after permanent makeup or its removal;
- the hairs have become fine, light, and brittle;
- your eyebrows are falling out along with the hair on your head;
- flaking, redness, or itching of the skin in the eyebrow area.
Sometimes thinning eyebrows are an outward sign of internal causes: hormonal changes, thyroid dysfunction, iron deficiency, or alopecia areata. That is why it is not worth starting procedures at random; diagnosis comes first.
Your first appointment
The doctor asks when and how your eyebrows began to thin and what procedures you have had in this area, and examines the skin and hairs. If needed, the examination is done under magnification (trichoscopy), which shows whether the follicles are preserved, how thick the hairs are, and whether the skin is inflamed. If the findings suggest that internal causes need to be ruled out, the doctor will tell you which tests to take.
You then receive a plan: in-clinic procedures, home care, and, if needed, treatment of the underlying cause. If you are also losing hair on your head, the doctor will examine your scalp as well; for more on this, see Treatment of Scalp Conditions.
Procedures we use
- Laser stimulation of the hair roots (Fotona) — gentle laser treatment of the skin that stimulates the follicles. You can have a single procedure or a course of three.
- RRS XL Hair mesotherapy — microinjections of a hair growth product that nourishes the follicles.
- Plasmatherapy — injection of plasma from the patient’s own blood, which is rich in growth factors. These procedures are used to support hair growth.
- Needle-free mesotherapy with a mesoroller — an option for those who are not ready for injections; the patient receives a mesoroller for home care as a gift.
Procedures are usually combined with one another and with home care. The doctor decides which ones are right for you after the examination; this depends on the cause and on how well the follicles are preserved.
How many procedures and when to expect results
The doctor determines the number of procedures and the interval between them at the consultation. Eyebrow hairs grow slowly, so the first changes are usually not visible right away, and it makes sense to assess the result after several months, at a follow-up examination. If the follicles in an area are no longer working, procedures will not bring the hairs back there; the doctor will tell you so honestly and suggest other options, such as permanent makeup.
Who sees patients
Narine Felixovna Karapetyan — dermatologist and trichologist with 10 years of experience. She graduated from Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University and is a certified specialist of the Science and Practice Center in trichology, trichoscopy, and dermatology.
During recovery
- do not pluck your eyebrows in the growth area; let the hairs grow back;
- do not tint or perm your eyebrows without checking with your doctor;
- do not apply “growth” products to your eyebrows without a recommendation, as some of them irritate the skin;
- come to follow-up examinations so the doctor can track your progress.
If your eyebrows are thinning along with the hair on your head, read the trichologist’s articles: hair loss in autumn: when to investigate the cause and seasonal hair loss: myth or reality.
- thinning eyebrows and gaps;
- slow regrowth of hairs after plucking;
- fine, brittle, light hairs;
- thinning eyebrows after permanent makeup or its removal;
- eyebrow loss along with hair loss on the head, after the cause has been diagnosed.
The consultation and examination have no contraindications. For procedures, the doctor takes into account:
- pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- acute inflammation, wounds, or herpes in the treatment area;
- blood clotting disorders and blood diseases (for injections and plasmatherapy);
- acute infectious diseases with fever;
- allergy to product ingredients;
- cancer.
The doctor will confirm the full list at the consultation.

Questions & answers
Why have my eyebrows stopped growing?
There are many possible causes: frequent plucking, skin damage from permanent makeup, age-related and hormonal changes, thyroid disease, iron deficiency, and alopecia areata. The doctor identifies the cause at the appointment and orders tests if needed.
Can eyebrows be restored after years of plucking?
If the follicles are preserved, procedures and proper care help the hairs grow back. If the follicles in an area are no longer working, the doctor will tell you after the examination and suggest other options.
Which procedures are suitable for eyebrows?
The clinic offers Fotona laser stimulation, RRS XL Hair mesotherapy, plasmatherapy, and needle-free mesotherapy with a mesoroller. The doctor decides which of them suit you, and in what combination, after the examination.
When will I see results?
Eyebrow hairs grow slowly, so the result is assessed not right away but at a follow-up examination several months later. The doctor determines the number of procedures and the interval between them at the consultation.
Can treatment be combined with permanent makeup?
This is decided individually. Usually it is best to let the eyebrows recover first and see how many hairs grow back, and then discuss permanent makeup. The doctor will tell you when it is appropriate.
Are injections in the eyebrow area painful?
The needles are very fine, and the sensations are usually tolerable. If you are not ready for injections, there are needle-free options: laser stimulation and a mesoroller.
How much does eyebrow restoration cost?
Current prices are listed in the table on this page. The doctor gives you an exact plan and cost after the examination.
