Hardware cosmetology

About this field

Hardware cosmetology at Medest covers procedures in which the skin is treated with energy: laser, intense pulsed light, focused ultrasound, or radiofrequency waves. They help with age-related changes, scars, stretch marks, dilated blood vessels, and pigmentation, in cases where creams and skincare treatments alone are not enough.

What this area includes

The clinic uses the Fotona TimeWalker laser platform, the Sellas fractional laser, the Ulthera System focused ultrasound system, and the Morpheus8 and Wonder Face devices. Each serves its own purpose: lasers and pulsed light renew the skin and address scars, blood vessels, and pigment, while ultrasound and radiofrequency methods lift and firm the tissues.

Your first visit

Hardware procedures are not chosen by the name of the device. At the first consultation, the doctor examines your skin, asks about your health, any medications you take, and previous procedures, and finds out what exactly concerns you. The doctor then explains which method is right for you, how many treatments may be needed, what recovery involves, and when to expect results. Sometimes the best option is a combination of hardware and injectable methods, and the doctor will plan the sequence of procedures.

Many procedures depend on the season: laser and pulsed light are not used on tanned skin, and the skin must be protected from the sun afterward. The doctor will help you plan the dates of your course in advance.

Who sees patients

Procedures are performed by dermatologists: Marina Eduardovna Shishmanyan, the clinic's chief physician, a dermatovenereologist with 18 years of experience, and Sona Vaganovna Harutyunyan, a dermatologist and cosmetologist with 20 years of experience and a certified specialist in laser technologies. Both graduated from Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University.
