Lipolytics for Contouring

Lipolytics are injectable products used to correct small, localized fat deposits on the face and body. They are injected into the problem area, where they help reduce the fat layer and define the contour. It is important to understand that lipolytics are not a substitute for weight loss: they work on specific areas that are hard to reduce even with a healthy diet and exercise.

Who it is for

As a rule, the best results are achieved with a stable weight and a small volume of deposits. If the fat layer is large or the skin sags noticeably, the doctor will discuss other correction options with you.

How lipolytics work

By mechanism of action, lipolytics are divided into direct and indirect. Direct lipolytics break down the membrane of fat cells (adipocytes), dissolve their contents, and help the body eliminate them. Indirect lipolytics do not destroy the cells; instead, they speed up the breakdown of fat inside them and improve microcirculation and fluid drainage.

Lipolytics are among the products used in mesotherapy: they are injected with a fine needle into the subcutaneous fat of the problem area. The doctor decides which product is needed, and in what amount, after the examination.

How the procedure works

• the doctor examines the area, assesses the thickness of the fat layer and the condition of the skin, and asks about your health;
• the skin is cleansed and treated with an antiseptic;
• the product is injected with a fine needle at several points following a planned pattern;
• after the procedure, the doctor gives you recommendations for the next few days.

After injections of direct lipolytics, there is usually swelling, redness, burning, and tenderness in the area, which is related to how the product works. These usually resolve within a few days; minor bruising is also possible. Swelling in the chin area can be noticeable, so it is best not to schedule the procedure right before important events. During these days, you are usually advised to drink enough water, stay active, and avoid the bathhouse and sauna.

How many treatments and when you will see results

Results develop gradually: the body needs time to eliminate the products of fat breakdown, so results are usually assessed after several weeks. As a rule, lipolytics are given as a course. The doctor determines the number of treatments and the interval between them at the consultation, taking into account the area, the volume of deposits, and the chosen product.

To maintain the result, it is important to keep a stable weight: with weight gain, the remaining fat cells grow larger again.
