Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup is the placement of pigment into the upper layers of the skin to define the brows, lips, or lash line. It does not replace evening makeup, but it saves you from drawing on your brows and eyeliner every day and looks neat from morning to night. At Medest, permanent makeup is done by a specialist with 13 years of experience who trained at specialized academies. The goal is a natural result that suits your facial features.

Who it is for

  • people with sparse, light, or asymmetrical brows;
  • those who draw on their brows or eyeliner every day and want to save time;
  • a pale or uneven lip line;
  • allergies to decorative cosmetics or poor eyesight that makes it hard to apply makeup yourself;
  • athletes and those who often go to the pool or the beach.

Techniques we offer

  • Brow microblading: fine strokes that look like natural hairs. The artist works with original Phi pigments and needles.
  • Machine technique (hair strokes): hair strokes drawn with a device using an atraumatic method, so the skin is less traumatized and the pattern looks natural.
  • Powder brows: soft shading that resembles brows filled in with eyeshadow. It can be combined with hair strokes in a combination technique.
  • Lips: from a natural shade that evens out the lip line and color to the effect of a light lipstick.
  • Eyes (eyeliner): from a fine line to a more defined wing.
  • Lash line enhancement: filling in the space between the lashes so they look fuller and the eyes more expressive, while the makeup itself is barely noticeable.
  • Touch-up: refreshing the color and shape after healing or some time later.

How the procedure works

Everything starts with a consultation. The specialist asks about your health, assesses your skin and facial features, and discusses the result you want. She then draws a sketch of the future brow shape, lip line, or eyeliner, and together you adjust it until you are fully satisfied. The pigment color is matched to your skin tone, hair color, and style.

Only then does the procedure itself begin. The specialist explains the pain relief options in advance. We use hypoallergenic certified materials, and the procedure is performed in compliance with all sanitary standards.

Healing and touch-ups

Right after the procedure, the color looks brighter than it will in the end, and that is normal. In the first few days, the skin may swell slightly and form a thin crust; it then flakes, and the color temporarily looks paler. The final shade appears after complete healing.

Some of the pigment may fade unevenly during healing, so a touch-up is usually scheduled: the specialist refines the shape and color. The artist will tell you when to come in for the touch-up after the procedure. The result usually lasts from 1 to 3 years, depending on the area, technique, skin type, and aftercare, including sun protection.

After the procedure, the specialist will give you aftercare instructions. During healing, you are usually advised not to steam the skin, tan, visit a sauna or pool, apply decorative cosmetics to the treated area, or pick at the crusts.

Who performs the procedure

Diana Vardanyan is a permanent makeup specialist with 13 years of experience. She is a certified PhiBrows Academy artist and works with original Phi pigments and needles. She trained at the Nouveau Contour academy (Germany) in powder techniques for lips, eyes, lash line enhancement, and eyeliner. She performs brow touch-ups and machine hair strokes using Natalia Plotnikova’s atraumatic method.

How to prepare

  • at the consultation, tell the specialist about any chronic conditions, allergies, and medications you take;
  • if you get cold sores on your lips, mention it in advance, as preventive treatment may be needed before a lip procedure;
  • avoid alcohol the day before;
  • do not have peels or other active procedures in the permanent makeup area shortly before your visit; check the timing with the specialist.

  • a pale or poorly defined lip line;
  • visually fuller lashes (lash line enhancement) and eyeliner;
  • refreshing or correcting previous permanent makeup, after an assessment.

Questions & answers

How long does permanent makeup last?

Usually from 1 to 3 years. It depends on the area, technique, skin type, and aftercare: on oily skin and with frequent tanning, the pigment usually fades faster. To keep the color, it is refreshed periodically with touch-ups.

What is the difference between microblading and powder brows?

Microblading consists of fine strokes that imitate hairs, while powder brows are soft shading, like eyeshadow. The two can be combined. The specialist will advise which technique suits your brows and skin at the consultation.

Is permanent makeup painful?

The sensations depend on the area and your individual sensitivity. The specialist explains the pain relief options in advance, and most people tolerate the procedure well.

Can I choose the shape in advance?

Yes. Before the procedure, the specialist draws a sketch, and together you adjust it. The pigment is applied only once you are happy with the shape and color.

Why is a touch-up needed?

During healing, some of the pigment fades unevenly; this is a characteristic of the skin, not a mistake. At the touch-up, the specialist refines the shape and color. The artist will tell you when to come in after the procedure.

Can I get permanent makeup if I already have old permanent makeup?

Sometimes yes, but it all depends on the condition of the old pigment: its color, density, and shape. The specialist will assess it at the consultation and tell you whether it can be covered or needs to be lightened first.

How should I care for the area after the procedure?

The specialist will give you aftercare instructions. During healing, you usually should not pick at the crusts, steam the skin, tan, visit a sauna or pool, or apply decorative cosmetics to the treated area.

How much does permanent makeup cost?

Current prices are listed in the table on this page; the cost depends on the area and technique. The specialist will give you an exact plan and cost after the consultation.
